The beautiful building of the historic Hotel Uhland was built in 1889 by Franz Kil. Right next to the Theresienwiese, within walking distance of the old town and main railway station, an architectural gem in the Neo-Renaissance style was created. The magnificent façade of the listed building in the heart of Munich has delighted walkers and hotel guests alike ever since.

In 1955, Hotel Uhland was founded in the historic building at the Oktoberfest. Since then, Hotel Uhland has been an insider tip for guests who want to book a room in the centre of Munich and in the immediate vicinity of the Oktoberfest. Even though the Hotel Uhland has reinvented itself time and again, our regular guests return to us regularly. Because the timeless atmosphere of our city centre hotel has survived the decades. The Hotel Uhland has just reopened and now welcomes you with new splendour and exclusivity – while retaining its unique character.

The façade of the hotel was honoured with Munich’s façade award for its outstanding architectural design and renovation.

Since 2004, our hotel has been awarded a special prize in the Munich Flower Decoration Competition every year. The loving care of the floral decorations around the hotel and the decorative design contribute to the inviting atmosphere.

Oktoberfest · Theresienwiese

Oktoberfest 19. September 1908
„The Oktoberfest 1908 began with the chiming of the 12 o’clock bell. Some external changes had taken place on the festival meadow that year. […] The Hühnerbraterei between Schottenhamel and Winzerer Fähndl appeared as a smart new building. In the Winzerer Fähndl, the music podium, which dominates both the garden and the hall, was lowered for the sake of acoustics and graceful balconies were arranged on both sides of it. […] At the point where Uhlandstraße meets Bavariaring, a bicycle parking garage operated by the municipal authorities has been erected for the first time. […] The Hippodrome has been given a completely new and impressive façade. A Hollandia bar, designed as a Dutch windmill, has been built further west on the Rindeck. […] Year after year, the Oktoberfest produces a series of more or less rare human abnormalities that attract the widest attention. This time there are two outstanding natural phenomena, namely Lionel, the lion-man, and Tabor, the ruler of muscles. Both appear together in the Indian Temple next to the Hippodrome.” The 1908 fairground was “occupied by 51 showmen, 12 inns, 2 wine stalls, 14 sausage kitchens, 19 cheese stalls, 7 fish fryers, 13 shooting galleries, 5 photography booths, 7 swing boats and 3 car parks“.
